The fulfilment we obtain through our own experiences and independence can sometimes be taken for granted. For many the world can be a confusing, challenging and even frightening place which can have a life altering and debilitating effect on their quality of life if they don't receive the correct help, support or services they require. Rompa exists because of these reasons and our sole mission is to give you the help, support and resources to try and improve the quality of life for the people you care for.
Compact Mobile Interactive Floor Projection
Our smallest system that was designed to make interactive projection accessible, affordable and easy at home, so families can replicate the benefits of the larger interactive systems their children access at school within the comfort of the home. Extremely portable and lightweight with no set up required.
Includes themes, imagery, videos and sound effects for plug and play use, as well as click-together foam flooring and a full training manual. Roughly the size of a shoe box and weighing just 1.7kg, this allows parents to transform a bedroom or lounge floor into a fun and interactive environment. LED-based and low-voltage (one plug).
1000 lumens so the projected image is considerably less sharp than that of the other two mobile options. Wall-mountable. Optional trolley available for projecting onto a table top or wheelchair tray - contact us for more information.

Mathmos makes and sells liquid projectors. Liquid projectors have been around since the 60s. You can also achieve it with a video projector (i think) but im not sure how good it works

I am an occupational therapist with 17 years of mental health experience. Snoezelen rooms is a terrible idea for mental health. They were designed for children with cognitive dysfunction, not mental illness. In the past 25 years, much neuroscience has been conducted as to what creates a healing environment. We know the more artificial, the more taxing on us psychologically and physiologically. Nature is best, such as an indoor healing garden. Second, screens are addictive. All research urges parents to reduce screen time for better brain development. Third, what are we teaching our children as means to calm, otherwise that they need a $30 k room to calm? Where is the psycho-social rehab approach? We need to empower and equip our children with skills to cope in the community.
Snoezelen rooms and sensory rooms were originally designed for adults with learning disabilities, predominantly as a leisure resource to increase engagement and well-being amongst those who had previously struggled to engage (Hogg et al., 2001). The use of these rooms was further adopted by therapists for other clinical groups including children with learning disabilities (Lancioni et al., 2002), older adults with dementia (collier et al., 2010), brain injury (Heidler, 2008), palliative care as a pain management strategy (Schofield & Davis, 2000), maternity settings for pain management (Jamshidi et al., 2015), and mental health as a tool to facilitate relaxation and sensory modulation techniques (Champagne, 2011). Therapists use these environments as a therapeutic tool and it is commonly accepted that this tool can either be a complete room or a small sensory tool kit that is specifically designed for the individual. Research in the field has revealed that a sensory approach has the potential to increase functional performance, increase or decrease arousal via sensory modulation and increase engagement and participation. We are just starting to build our sensory room with veterans with mental health problems and so far so good, its great for calming and the clients appear really interested in finding out what things soothe and what things stimulate. We can't afford really expensive equipment as we are a charity, but with a bit of imagination and people donating we are getting there.
A bubble tube is on our sensory friendly home wish list! So fun!
